Things to understand about health insurance:

1. Insurance companies do not define a practitioner’s scope of practice.

A practitioner’s scope of practice is established by state law and professional governing bodies, not by an insurance company. Participation with an insurance network is optional. When a practitioner participates in-network, they must manage a case according to the insurer’s medical necessity guidelines, regardless of the patient’s individual goals or benefit expectations.

2. Medical necessity is not the same as clinical necessity.

Insurance companies determine what they will pay for based on the terms of the policy you purchased. Those payment rules do not necessarily reflect what may be appropriate or beneficial for your individual health journey.

Dr. Astrea provides those services there under contract with that office, and any insurance-related billing, filing, or reimbursement processes are handled through Accent on Health according to that office’s policies.

Dr. Astrea’s primary professional licensure is as a chiropractor. Services provided under that licensure are rendered within the scope of applicable state law and, when appropriate, may include clinical documentation, diagnostic impressions, and procedure coding for eligible chiropractic services.
