Magnesium is a nutrient that is involved in over 300 cellular reactions. Therefore, proper magnesium availability can enhance over 300 processes in your body and positively impact health.

Many things within your life will deplete magnesium including stress, disease, medications, inflammation, genetic mutation, and certain foods.

Blood tests can help determine temporary levels of magnesium, but this singular value should not solely be used to determine deficiency.

If you have allergies, infections, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, pain, inflammation, stress, mental health disorders, grey hair, cravings, fatigue, or digestive issues, then you are likely deficient in many nutrients and one of them is magnesium.

What’s The Difference?

When deciding which form of magnesium to purchase, some forms are as follows: magnesium oxide can help with constipation, but is typically a chemically laden, synthetic and may not help your body in the long run; Magnesium citrate is more available to the body and can be used for constipation and is isolated; Magnesium glycinate can be used for mental health and calming the mind and is also an isolate;

Magnesium threonate can be used to help with sleep and again is an isolate; Magnesium malate can be used to ease muscle tightness and a calcium overload but is an isolate. Other forms include orotate, lactate, taurate, chloride, and sulfate.

All forms have value but work best in a complex with multiple forms.

Tips For Taking Magnesium:

1.     Split the dosage throughout the day.

2.     Take 30 minutes before caffein.

3.     If you are taking an isolate/synthetic, take it with protein or amino acids.

4.     It will help your vitamin D3/K2 work better.

5.     If your stool becomes loose, split the dose, decrease the amount, or try a different form.

6.     If you are taking it, or it’s already in one of your supplements, and you still suffer from signs of deficiency, you may want to switch the form, brand, or timing.
